Bradford Regeneration Scheme

Working in a busy city centre with lots of pedestrians and traffic we successfully pulled in 4 number 125mm diameter ducts in a single pull using the Directional Drilling rig under an underground river. The works were enclosed in Harris safety fencing keeping the public and surrounding vehicles away from the working area.

By pulling through all 4 ducts in one operation it eliminates the need for the ground surface to be excavated continually and other utilities can utilize the vacant ducts.

South Wales - Carmarthen

This job was located on the outskirts of a busy market town called Carmarthen. We were working within traffic light restrictions and directionally drilled a 180mm diameter new gas main up a steep hill for Amec.

South Wales - A48

The directional drilling was carried out across 2 number dual carriageways on the A48.

By using this trenchless technique and drilling underneath the carriageway, overhead traffic is not disturbed. The drilling rig simultaneously pulled through a gas and water main avoiding the need for 2 trenches to be excavated and skillfully navigating around sensitive Fibre Optic cables.

The large open cut trench to the right of the drilling rig has been excavated by another major contractor prior to our arrival to lay an electric duct. Furthermore, before the electric duct was laid, a major telecom company had dug an open trench. All of these utilities could have effectively been drilled in a single pull if one contractor was carrying out the job and this would be a massive cost saving, less time consuming, less disruptive to the public and environment.

South Wales - Crosshands

Working for Balfour Beatty we Directionally Drilled under a stream pulling through a 125mm diameter duct which will function as an 11KVA electric main.
